Mercedes is negotiating the sale of business in Russia

Mercedes-Benz is considering the possibility of selling the property of its distributor Mercedes-Benz Rus to one of the dealers.

“A possible scheme is the transfer of the distributor’s rights to the dealer. The Mercedes-Benz plant in the Russian Federation is not included in the deal, it does not work, like most automotive production in the country. If the deal goes through, Mercedes-Benz will stop working in Russia directly. Such a scheme was popular with European brands at the very beginning of entering the Russian market in the 1990s, and is now used in less important CIS markets.

According to the publication, among the contenders for the purchase of property “Mercedes-Benz Rus” – dealers “Panavto”, “Avtodom”, “Avilon” and “Major”. Another source noted that Mercedes-Benz Rus is discussing the sale of its car warehouse and dealership to dealers through tenders. The company itself said that they are considering various options for doing business in Russia: “There are no concrete decisions yet. Please understand that we do not comment on future plans and strategic decisions,” said Mercedes representatives.
