First off, what IS Emotional Intelligence? Emotional intelligence is vital for good interpersonal communication. Many experts believe that this ability is more important in determining life success than IQ alone. Intellectual ability or your intelligence quotient (IQ) isn't enough on its own to achieve success in life. Yes, your IQ can help you get into college, but it's your EQ that will help you regulate the stress and emotions when facing your final exams. IQ and EQ exist in duos and are most beneficial when they build off one another. As we know, it's not the smartest people who are the most successful or the most fulfilled in life. You probably know people who are academically talented and yet are socially incapable and unsuccessful at work or in their relationships. Emotional Intelligence affects us on so many levels!   3. Understanding emotions: The emotions that we perceive can carry a wide variety of meanings. If someone is expressing angry emotions, the observer must interpret the cause of the person's anger and what it could mean. For example, if your boss is acting angry, it might mean that they are dissatisfied with your work, or it could be because they got a speeding ticket on their way to work that morning or that they've been fighting with their partner. 
  4. Managing emotions: The ability to manage emotions effectively is a crucial part of emotional intelligence and the highest level. Regulating emotions and responding appropriately as well as responding to the emotions of others are all important aspects of emotional management. 

The first item, perceiving emotions, is considered the most basic or the first level of emotional intelligence. The skills progress to the last item, managing emotions, which is considered the highest level of emotional intelligence. This pertains to the potential to regulate your emotions and the emotions of others. Emotionally Intelligent people tend to have strong social skills, presumably, because they are so attuned to their awnings as well as those of others. They know how to deal with people effectively, and they are invested in maintaining healthy social relationships and assisting those around them to succeed.

What we learn from our own emotions will allow us to pursue the life style we want to live and create more of what we want in our lives, rather than what we don’t. Emotional intelligence is a trait that can always be nurtured and strengthened in all of us, but without having a developed understanding of it, the individuals will lack loving friendships, internal happiness and commonly be referred to living a life of poor social functioning. Becoming more familiar of the impacts and differences of EQ and IQ often makes us believe that EQ is sufficiently more important than ones general intelligence because being true to oneself is the easiest way of living life to the fullest. In this global age, it is necessary to compile a high sense of emotional awareness. After all, who wants to live an unhappy life with not being able to share everything with the one we love?
