Top 10 most spectacular waterfalls in the world .

Among the manifestations of the power of geological forces are volcanic eruptions and waterfalls. Because a giant shower that sends entire rivers hundreds of meters below in a thunderous noise, it is a good reminder that man is not yet quite the boss on this planet and that it is not necessary to not piss off the Earth too much. And as it is, they are on every continent.

*1. Niagara Falls (Canada / United States)*

You might as well start with the most famous, which are not, however, the tallest in the world. Located between the United States and Canada (two twin cities named Niagara Falls share Niagara Falls on either side of the border), this set of 3 falls produces a large amount of energy and therefore stands out as a unique strategic center due to its multiple functions. Because of course, tourists flock there in droves every year and contribute to the site's influence across the globe.

*2. The Well of Thor (United States)*

Located on the state side of Oregon, this unique site named after the Norse god (or superhero Marvel, it is) has fascinated visitors for ages. It must be said that to see the water of the Pacific rush into this impressive cavity to emerge while gushing out, is an incredible spectacle after all. Be careful, however, if you venture there, because the dangerousness of the place has been widely proven over the years.

 *3. Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)*

Very patriotic, Scottish explorer David Livingstone decides to name these waterfalls after his dear and loving Queen. If he is of course not the first human being to discover them, he is indeed the first European to fall on them, in Zimbabwe, in 1855. With a width of 1700 meters and being able to reach 108 meters high , these falls known to local people as Mosi-oa-Tunya mark the border with Zambia and offer a breathtaking show of beauty and majesty.

 *4. Detian Falls (Vietnam)*

Also called Ban Gioc, these falls are the largest in Vietnam. Falls that change shape during the rainy season, made up of 3 groups separated by rocky spurs. With a total width of 100 meters, they stand out for their structure and are often cited (as with us) as being among the most beautiful on the planet.

 *5. Yosemite Falls (United States)*

In the Yosemite Valley, in the eponymous national park in California, these falls reach a height of 740 meters and consist of a succession of 3 waterfalls. An Indian legend claims that the water at the base of the site is inhabited by the spirits of several witches. One thing is certain, however, witches or not, is that the show is guaranteed!

*6. The falls of Kaieteur (Guyana)*

In the Amazon rainforest stand the Kaieteur Falls, where many rainbows appear with the seasons, to the delight of visitors. The lush nature that encompasses these waterfalls, some 226 meters high, and their rather difficult access, make it one of the most popular sites in all of Guyana.

 *7. The Salto Ángel (Venezuela)*

It's her ! The highest waterfall in the world, with a height of 979 meters! A waterfall named after Jimmy Angel, the aviator who first flew over it, and which turns out to be as impressive as the photos can suggest. We recently got to see the Salto Ángel in the horrific Point Break remake.

 *8. The Iguazú Falls (Argentina)*

Straddling Brazil and Argentina, the colossal Iguazú Falls bring together 275 waterfalls to form an incredible grouping. Miami Vice, Moonraker or the latest Indiana Jones were partially filmed there.

 *9. Dettifoss (Iceland)*

Isolated in the desert in northern Iceland, the Dettifoss waterfall is located 308 meters above sea level and is said to be the most powerful in Europe, with a flow rate of 200 m³ / s and 44 meters high. We see it in the movie Prometheus, at the very beginning, when an alien jumps into it in order to sacrifice himself.

 *10. Sutherland Falls (New Zealand)*

Composed of 3 levels, for a total height of 580 meters, the Sutherland Falls are the second largest in the country, after the Browne Falls and their 843 meters (they are often confused). On the South Island, they are a unique attraction.
