Tata nexon ev(review): an indian electric SUV

This is not Tata Motors' first electric vehicle.  Launched for fleet operators and government officials, the Tigor EV was launched by the Indian carmaker last year.  However, they have now decided to expand their electric car audience to private buyers with the Nexon EV.  The price is expected to be based on the facelift version of the compact SUV.  15-17 lakhs (18k-20k USD).  We have found that this mass market electric vehicle will be able to attract attention and significantly increase its size in the Indian market which is gradually preparing for the electric future.

Exterior Review: The Nexon EV comes with a facelifted avatar with some special styling elements for the EV.  The previous profile is now more straight and sharp compared to the circular styling of the pre-facelift version.  The headlights are equipped with integrated LED DRLs, which give the bonnet a power bulge.  The bumpers have been modified and there is a new grille that looks clean.  The front design is ideal for pedestrian safety.  In addition to the EV badge on the front fender and the new 16-inch alloy wheels, the side profile of the Nexon EV is almost identical.  The rear also gets minor upgrades in the form of upgraded taillights and bumpers.  These distinctive blue accents can be seen on the front air dam, shoulder line and boot.  The overall styling looks very attractive, especially on the new front profile.

Interior Overview: Compared to the pre-facelift car, the interior of the Nexon also comes with minor changes.  It comes with a new steering wheel borrowed from Tata Ultras, along with the steering wheel mounted control for the infotainment system and the MID on the instrument cluster.  It has a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analog speedometer and a digital 7-inch display.  It shows all the important information like power, eco and region meter depending on the accelerator and brake input.  It also shows information about battery percentage and available range.  It has live energy raw infographic to go to the power wheels and recharge from the wheels to the battery.  It also shows the direction of the wheels when the car is parked.  A ton of information is available, including standard time, temperature, ODO and trip readings.

Driving Overview: Performance - The Tata Nexon EV 3-Phase Permanent Magnet is powered by a synchronous motor with a 30.2 kWh underground battery.  The motor and battery are IP67 rated.  The Nexon EV produces 129 PS and 245 Nm, and accelerates to 0-100 km / h in 9.9 seconds.  With EVs, you get instant torque delivery, no delays.  The Nexon is also very responsive to drive, and it packs a really decent punch.  The car comes with drive and sport modes and the difference between the two modes is huge.  Drive mode seems to be more suitable for everyday use because the power delivery feels relaxed and linear, while the Sport mode is more aggressive and causes a lot of wheel spin.

Summary: Tata Nexon EV is a practical but affordable EV that can be purchased in today's electric vehicle environment in India.  The performance of the car is remarkable and even the range on offer is very practical for everyday city use.  The Nexon EV is packed with advanced features that provide good luggage space for up to 5 passengers without compromising on comfort and convenience.  Yes, there will be range concerns, but as the electric car ecosystem in India gradually improves, it will become more comfortable in the near future.  The Nexon EV seems to be worth the money in the electric car sector, and if the Indian audience builds confidence in it, we believe it will speak for itself as a compact SUV.
