Our body needs Cholesterol

Our body needs Cholesterol.

Cholesterol is a lipid, that is to say a fat, used by our body to make part of the membrane of our cells and also vitamin D. In other words, it is an essential product required for our health. At the same time, in excess, it is bad for our health.

One third of cholesterol is provided by the food we eat, and two thirds are produced in the liver. When we talk about good cholesterol and bad cholesterol, it does not mean that there are two cholesterol, it means that it is transported in the blood by two different systems.

HDL cholesterol is the good one, because it's what gets rid of our cells and our arteries to be redirected to the liver by the HDL proteins that carry this cholesterol and have the ability to clean our arteries. Its level must be between 0.4 and 0.6 g/l of blood.
