Evidence for the Bible being True

There are many evidences for the Bible being the word of God .

Archeological evidence shows it to be so

David's and Solomon Tomb

Rehab's house which was connected to the wall of Jericho found

Joseph's statue found in Egypt

Evidence of people living a long time in the Sumerian King's list

Evidence for Melchizedek Temple

Isaiah's seal found

2 . Convictions in ones heart and change lives shows it to be unlike no other book

1Co 6:9-11 NKJV 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

3. Real Science agrees with it's findings that can be observed.

4. Inner wittness of it's to be the word Of God

Peter calls the writtings of Paul scripture

2Pe 3:15-16 NKJV 15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.

Paul calls the Gospel of Luke scripture

1Ti 5:18 NKJV For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain,” and, “The laborer is worthy of his wages.”

Luk 10:7 NKJV And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house.

5. A Atheist wanted to debate about manuscript evidence , and I did not feel like doing it today since my internet is limited since I am using some one hot spot but let's say we didn't had any of manuscripts to repuduce the New Testament , the whole New Testament can be reproduce with the writing of the early Christians of the first 4 centuries after Christ.

6. There are about over 28,000 pieces of fragments and about 4,000 or 5,000 thousand manuscripts evidence unlike any other book in the world is the Bible.

The Tower of Babel was a real place.

Josephus Jewish Historian (30–100AD) in his Antiquities of the Jews gives evidence for this place in his time outside the Bible :

Antiquities.1.4.3 (“ (118) The Sibyl also makes mention of this tower, and of the confusion of the language, when she says thus:--"When all men were of one language, some of them built a high tower, as if they would thereby ascend up to heaven; but the gods sent storms of wind and overthrew the tower, and gave everyone his peculiar language; and for this reason it was that the city was called Babylon." (119) But as to the plain of Shinar, in the country of Babylonia, Hestiaeus mentions it when he says thus:--"Such of the priests as were saved took the sacred vessels of Jupiter Enyalius, and came to Shinar of Babylonia.")

In (Bablyon) Iraq there was found a tablet which contains a Tower which might of been The Tower of Babel

The Tablet itself dates around 600 BC.

Now let's Talk about prophecy

  1. Let's first take look at the Law of probability. Then we will take this law and compare it with the scriptures. Let's say I tell you tomorrow it will rain. There is a 50/50 percentage it might. Now let's say if I tell you it will rain and it will stop 4pm . Now my chances of being right have gone lower to about to 25 percentage or less now if I tell you , by the way you will meet your future husband or wife that day , your dog will die , and you will get a flat tire on your way to work. My chances of being right are now less in one percent. Now let's take this and compare it with scripture. Isaiah the prophet prophecies goes back to 740- 700BC in that time he prophesied about a certain King name Cyrus and he said he will rebuild the foundation of the Temple. At that time the temple was standing the temple was destroyed in 586 BC and Cyrus wasn't king till 559BC. This command was made by Cyrus in 539 BC.This prophecy to be fulfilled has less than 1% of chances but it was fulfilled. Let's look at the prophecy.
  2. Isa 44:24-28 NET2 24 This is what the LORD, your protector, says, the one who formed you in the womb: “I am the LORD, who made everything, who alone stretched out the sky, who fashioned the earth all by myself, 25 who frustrates the omens of the empty talkers and humiliates the omen readers, who overturns the counsel of the wise men and makes their advice seem foolish, 26 who fulfills the oracles of his prophetic servants and brings to pass the announcements of his messengers, who says about Jerusalem, ‘She will be inhabited,’ and about the towns of Judah, ‘They will be rebuilt, her ruins I will raise up,’ 27 who says to the deep sea, ‘Be dry! I will dry up your sea currents,’ 28 who commissions Cyrus, the one I appointed as shepherd to carry out all my wishes and to decree concerning Jerusalem, ‘She will be rebuilt,’ and concerning the temple, ‘It will be reconstructed.’”
  3. The edict was found in 1879 at Ahmetha, in the palace that is in the province of Media, a roll, and therein was thus written:
  4. (“I am Cyrus, King of the World, Great King, Mighty King, King of Babylon, King of the lands of Sumer and Akkad: King of the Four Quarters... I, well-disposed, entered Babylon and amidst public jubilation, sat on the royal throne...My numerous troops took over Babylon without molestation. I allowed no one to harass or terrorize the peoples of Sumer and Akkad. I concerned myself with the needs of Babylonians and their sanctuaries to promote their well-being. I freed the citizens of Babylon from the yoke of servitude. I restored their dilapidated dwellings and redressed their grievances. The cities of Ashur and Susa, Agade and Ashnuna...and all the holy cities beyond the Tigris, where sanctuaries lay in ruins for a long time, restored, and their gods I returned to their places: and all the peoples of these lands I gathered in their own places and restored to them their dwellings.”)

  1. Now there are lots of evidence for prophecy fulfilled in the Bible especially fulfilled by the person of Jesus Christ . But that would be a other topic. But the law of probability with archaeological discoveries proves the Bible is the word of God and can be trusted .

Someone might ask did those living in Jesus time did they took those old testament stories to be true and the answer is yes .

They took these stories as literally as possible. For they were closer to the events than we were .

Jesus for example spoke of Moses , Abraham , Isaac , Jacob, David as real people in the pass.

John 5:46-47 (MNT) "For if you believed Moses you would believe me, for he wrote about me.And if you do not believe his writings, how will you ever believe my words?"

Mark 2:25-26 (MNT) He answered them. "Have you never read what David did when he was needy and hungry, he and his men?How he went into the house of God when Abiathar was priest, and ate the consecrated bread, which none but priests may eat, and gave some to his men?

Matthew 8:11 (MNT) "I tell you that many will come from the east and from the west, and sit down with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.

Josephus Jewish historian also took the events as litteral . When writtings his historical Jewish Books Antiquity of the Jews and War of the Jews depended heavily on the Old Testament as a reliable source.

There are archaeological evidence that the Old Testament people existed and events happen.

King Solomon's Wall Found

Isaiah the Prophet seal

So legendary they are not but true events of the pass . The Bible can be trusted. And if it can be trusted then you are called to read it and find in it the way of the life.

Just like thier are evidence for the New Testament characters as seen below one can see evidence for those in the Old Testament

There are quite a number of them.

Pilate 26 -37 AD

“So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him.”John 19:1 (NKJV)

Found in June of 1961 states “ Pontius Pilate Perfect of Judea “

Ciaphas the High Priest

“And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing at all,” John 11:49 (NKJV)

Ciaphas' Ossuary

Discovered in a burial cave in south Jerusalem in November 1990

“Now when Jesus had come into Peter's house, He saw his wife's mother lying sick with a fever.” Mat 8:14 (NKJV)

Peter's house found in Capernaum

Now let's look at more evidences for those in the Old Testament

Isaiah the Prophet (742- 700 BC)

“So the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.” 2Kin 19:5 (NKJV)

A clay segant bearing the inscription “Isaiah the prophet.”

King Hezekiah 727–698 BC

“And so it was, when King Hezekiah heard it, that he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the Lord.” 2Kin 19:1 (NKJV)

King Hezekiah seal found

“Then he removed the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun, at the entrance to the house of the Lord, by the chamber of Nathan-Melech, the officer who was in the court; and he burned the chariots of the sun with fire.”2Kin 23:11 (NKJV)

The clay seal below bares the inscription “(belonging) to Nathan-Melech, Servant of the King”

“"Then I charged Baruch before them, saying,” Jer 32:13 (NKJV)

Seal of Baruch

The three lines on the Baruch bulla read: “(Belonging) to Berekhyahu, the son of Neriyahu, the scribe.”

King Solomon

“Then Zadok the priest took a horn of oil from the tabernacle and anointed Solomon. And they blew the horn, and all the people said, "Long live King Solomon!"”1Kin 1:39 (NKJV)

Ancient wall built by King Solomon

Here are just a few more :

We have evidence that the people of the Bible actually existed.

Evidence that Biblical events happen.

Annals of Sennacherib shows Isreal and Judah was attacked by Assyria in the time of King Hezekiah and mentions Hezekiah .

It's states

(“surrounded (and) conquered forty-six of his (i.e., Hezekiah's) fortified cities, fortresses, and small(er) settlements in their environs, which were without number, by having ramps trodden down and battering rams brought up, the assault of foot soldiers, sapping, breaching, and siege engines. I brought out of them 200,150 people, young (and) old, male and female, horses, mules, donkeys, camels, oxen, and sheep and goats, which were without number, and I counted (them) as booty." “)

Also states (“ As for him, Hezekiah, fear of my lordly brilliance overwhelmed him and, after my (departure), he had the auxiliary forces (and) his elite troops whom he had brought inside to strengthen the city Jerusalem, his royal city, and who had provided support, (along with) 30 talents of gold, 800 talents of silver, choice antimony, large blocks of . . . ivory beds, armchairs of ivory, elephant hide(s), elephant ivory, ebony, boxwood, garments with multi-colored trim, linen garments, blue-purple wool, red-purple wool, utensils of bronze, iron, copper, tin (and) iron, chariots, shields, lances, armor, iron belt-daggers, bows and ussu-arrows, equipment, (and) implements of war, (all of which were without number, together with his daughters, his palace women, male singers, (and) female singers brought into Nineveh, my capital city, and he sent a mounted messenger of his to me to deliver (this) payment and to do obeisance.")

Also it is written in the Assyrain records

(“As for him (Hezekiah), I confined him inside the city Jerusalem, his royal city, like a bird in a cage. I set up blockades against him and made him dread exiting his city gate.")

The Bible states

2Kin 18 (NKJV)¹³ And in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them.

This story can be read in our Bibles in 2 kings 18–19 and Isaiah 36–37 and how God delivered the King of Judah
